Grant also has various musical engagements, including community theater musical productions, cocktail hours, and community service events.
Throughout Grant’s high school career, he was extremely active in the Roslyn High School Music Department and constantly looks to expand his musical knowledge through score analysis, composition, orchestration, and theoretical studies. In 2008, he was the associate pit director and arranger for the Roslyn Royal Crown Player’s production of Damn Yankees. Now a student in the Bandier Program at Syracuse University, he is continuing to bring his passion, knowledge, and leadership ability to all projects and organizations in which he is involved.
Although now in college, Grant remains actively involved in the Roslyn High School “Eclectic Electric” program under the direction of Michael Coffey and the consultation of world-renowned electric violinist Mark Wood, original member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. “Eclectic Electric” is an innovative performance group, combining an electric string quintet, traditional chamber orchestra, rock band, and choir to produce a unique sound. Their repertoire ranges from traditional classical literature to rock music. Grant continues to manage and develop the program along with Mr. Coffey, helping to provide an authentic musical experience for all participants.
Grant became involved at a young age in the music industry. As the publicity director and advertisement manager for “Eclectic Electric”, he is currently running a Facebook campaign and is in the process of developing an electronic press kit, helping to better inform the public about this amazing group. Grant has interned at the well known Cove City Sound Studios in New York where he honed his audio production techniques under some of the top audio engineers and producers. Additionally, Grant also had the opportunity to intern at the Grammy Award winning record label Chesky Records gaining invaluable experience. He is continuing his studies at the Bandier Program for Music and the Entertainment Industries at Syracuse University, a prestigious, well regarded, and highly-selective program.
In addition to Grant’s various musical engagements and internships, he is currently composing an orchestral work for Double Bass and Orchestra and composing and arranging several pieces for varied instrumentation in classical, jazz, and modern music idioms. His compositional and instrumental mentor is Jon Deak, former Associate Principal Bassist for the New York Philharmonic. Grant is active in the Young Composers “Bridge” program at the New York Philharmonic, which helps to provide musical knowledge and expertise to young students through music composition.
Aside from his music, Grant enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, SCUBA diving, and cooking (and of course eating) really good food!
